Proper Installation of
Slewing Bearing is Crucial
for Performance & Longevity
Cleanliness: Before starting the installation process, make sure that the mounting surface of the slewing bearing and the machine is clean and free of dust and debris. It's also important that the bearing itself is clean. Any dirt, burrs, or debris can affect the proper operation of the slewing bearing.
Ensure Correct Positioning: Position the bearing accurately on the mounting structure. Misalignment can lead to undue stress and premature failure of the bearing. Also, make sure that the bearing is leveled; any inclination can lead to excessive loads and irregular wear.
Bolting: Choose the right bolts and follow the proper tightening sequence. Bolts and hardened washers should be tightened in the "Z" pattern, as seen below, to avoid tight spots. An incorrect torque can lead to bolt failure or cause the bearing to loosen over time.
Lubrication: Lubrication is crucial to the longevity and functionality of slewing bearings. Proper lubrication reduces friction and wear, and it also prevents corrosion. Make sure to lubricate regularly according to the operating conditions.
Regular Inspections: After installation, regular inspections and maintenance are crucial to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the bearing. Check for any unusual noises, vibrations, or temperature rise which could indicate a problem.
